Linda Sue Hensley Hege, 74, of Lexington, passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 15, 2024, at Grayson Creek in Lexington. Born on September 6, 1949, in Jackson County, MO, Linda was the daughter of the late Wallace S. Hensley and Gloria Cain Hensley. She was a devoted member of Griffith Baptist Church and enjoyed a fulfilling career as a paralegal with Barnes, Grimes, and Bunce in Lexington before retiring.
Linda was an angel on Earth. She was the kindest, most caring, selfless individual. She never uttered a bad word about anyone but instead saw the good in everyone. She dedicated her life to helping others. Linda was extremely creative and always made the best birthday cakes, church projects and Halloween outfits. She also loved family vacations. She was a master at planning Disney World trips. She was a patient mother who raised her children to love the Lord. She spoiled her grandchildren and loved to attend all of their school and sports events. Most importantly, she loved her husband, Stokes, and the time they spent together at Nascar races, Alabama concerts, Kerley’s Barbecue, and all vacations.
Linda was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Stokes Elwood Hege, Jr., and her parents. She is survived by her daughters, Crystal Byrd (Bobby) and Valerie Williams (James); her brothers, Donnie Hensley (Sherry), Everette Lemons, Don Lemons, and Tim Lemons (Lisa); her sisters, Ruby Myers (Jack) and Carol Landreth (Keith); and her five cherished grandchildren, Kendall, Chloe, and Cora Byrd, and Lindsey and Gunner Williams.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 19, 2024, at Griffith Baptist Church on Old Salisbury Road in Winston-Salem, with Pastor Tony Brown officiating. Burial will follow at Bethesda United Methodist Church on Bethesda Road in Lexington. The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Griffith Baptist Church, 1987 Old Salisbury Road, Winston-Salem, NC 27127. Davidson Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel, is honored to serve the Hege family during this time.
