Linda Elaine King, 75, a native of Burnsville in Yancey County, NC and currently a resident of Davidson County, passed away Thursday, January 11, 2024, at her home.
There are no formal services at this time.
Linda was born on April 13, 1948, in McDowell County, to the late Lawrence King and Margaret Whittington King. She worked for many years in Admissions at Lees McRae in Banner Elk, NC and most recently Stetson University in Deland, FL. Linda loved gardening and had a true green thumb as a Master Gardener. Her family and friends remember her as an excellent cook, making everything homemade. Two of her signature dishes were pecan pie and her cornbread dressing.
Linda also had a heart for animals and loved her fur-babies. She was not only a loving mom to her pets, but also to her son. Her love for her family took precedence over everything else and she will always be remembered for her devotion to them.
Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her sister, Nancy Louise King.
Left to cherish her memory is her son, Barry (Angie) Simmons, of Kill Devil Hills; grandchildren, Myra Brooke, of Jonas Ridge, and Jayden Corina Danielle Simmons, of Kill Devil Hills; best friend, Grace Woody, of Jonas Ridge; and her precious fur-babies.
