Linda Faye Mckinney Rau

August 25, 1954 — September 19, 2024

It’s with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Linda McKinney Rau, who left us on September 19, 2024, at the age of 70.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, September 29, 2024, at 3:00 PM, followed by a Memorial Service at 4:00 PM at Davidson Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel.

Linda was born on August 25, 1954, in Davidson County to the late Wilson and Dot McKinney. From an early age, she developed a love for the outdoors, especially the warmth of the sunshine and the calming presence of water, with the beach being one of her favorite places. Linda was full of life, always active, and her joy for dancing, singing, and music was infectious. Her kind and selfless nature shone through in every aspect of her life, as she often put the needs of others above her own.

A true animal lover, Linda adored her fur babies, and her gentle spirit extended to everyone she met. She was known for her positive outlook, her generosity, and the unconditional love she offered to all. Her greatest passion in life was her family. Linda was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, known as "Maw Maw" to her grandchildren, with whom she created cherished memories, especially on outings to various parks.

Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her brother Ronnie McKinney, and her sister Alice Schwartz.

Left to carry on her memory is her beloved husband, Kurt Rau, of the home; her son, Thomas “Bubba” Huffman (Amie) of Myrtle Beach; daughters Cindy Russell (Daniel) of Salisbury and Marcie Maines (Brian) of Yadkinville; stepson Michael Rau (Carolyn) of Rockwell; brothers Randy McKinney (Cathy) of Lexington and Paul McKinney of Lexington; brother-in-law Steve Schwartz; sisters Bonnie Wilson (Duck) of Tyro, Ellen Guy of Lexington, and Victoria Friedmann of Lexington. She also leaves behind her adored grandchildren Alyssa (William), Layla, Livia, Kaleb, Chelsea (Nick), Morgan (Brad), Gavin, Zoë (Frederick), Jude, Beck, and Damien, with a much-anticipated great-grandchild on the way. Her legacy of love is further carried by her lifelong friends Iva Morrow and Lisa Woods, an abundance of nieces and nephews, and many extended family members and friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made in Linda's honor to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital at https://www.stjude.org/donate.

Linda’s warmth, love, and kindness will be missed by all who knew her. She lives on in the hearts of those she touched, leaving behind a legacy of love and memories that will never fade.
