Linda Walker Hanes

Mrs. Linda Lee Prince Walker Hanes, 89, of Winston-Salem, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 15, 2020 at her home surrounded by family.

The family will have a private celebration to honor Linda’s life.

A public graveside service will be held at 3:00 PM, Monday, October 19, 2020 at Shiloh United Methodist Church Cemetery, by the Reverends, Dave Kelley and Benny Clodfelter. Interment to follow.

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic facial masks and social distancing is required.

Linda was born in Laurens, South Carolina on August 12, 1931 to the late Hughey Roscoe Prince and Daisy Bost Prince.

She was a devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was a member of Shiloh United Methodist Church, where she also enjoyed singing in the choir. Linda was also a member of The Order of Eastern Star, Chapter No. 216, and served previously as a Worthy Matron.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, J.H. Hanes, Jr., her grandson, Tommy Freeman and great-great grandson, Cash Michael.

Loved ones left to cherish her memory include her two sons, Edward Steve Walker (Tonya); and Avery Lee Walker both of WS; daughters, Donna Walker Duggins (Ronald) of WS; Kaye M. Anderson (William) of Linwood; Jane H. Freeman (Tommy) of Lexington; and Penny H. Canady (Rick) also of Lexington; grandchildren, Johnna Dewhurst (Derek); Natalie Walser; Bryon Moorefield; Hope Creswell (Mike); Craig Canady (Stefanie); 16 great-grandchildren; 9 great-great grandchildren; brother-in-law, William Hanes (Sylvia); sister-in-law’s, Virginia Weisner and Joann Hanes; and godchild, Robin Bruff (Tim).

The family would like to express their thanks and appreciation to Linda’s special care-givers, B.J. Tysinger and Darlene Bailey.

In lieu of flowers, you may honor Linda’s memory with donations made to Trellis Supportive Care of WS, 101 Hospice Lane, WS, NC 27103; or to Shiloh UMC, 871 NC Hwy 150, Lexington, NC 27295
