Linwood Charles Newcomb

Linwood Charles Newcomb, 83, of Lexington, passed away August 28, 2024, at Lexington Health Care in Lexington.

A graveside service to celebrate his life will be held at 2:00 pm Tuesday, September 3, 2024, at Sandy Creek Cemetery in Tyro, with the Rev. Angelia Powell officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the grave.

Mr. Newcomb was born January 23, 1941, in Nash County, to Edward Ashley Newcomb and Rebecca Jane Holloman Newcomb. Charles was a devoted member of St. Luke's Lutheran church in Tyro and the church family. He was a retired truck driver having worked for FFM/MBM Trucking. His passion was his faith, church, and family. Charles was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle, who will be missed by all. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Doris Scott Newcomb, brothers, Joseph, Preston, and Lewis Newcomb, sisters, Bertha Newcomb and Joyce Newcomb Holland, and stepdaughter, Lorrena Gilmore.

Left to cherish his memories are his son, Lee Newcomb (Shannon), daughter, Carol Temple (Tom), stepdaughters, Sherri Curry (Bobby), Annitta Cook; grandchildren, Thomas and Samantha Newcomb, and Virginia and Corwin Temple; step grandchildren, Kortnie Floyd (Justin) and Bradley Curry (Whitney); step great grandchildren,  Kason and Reece Curry and Iris Floyd; sisters Lillie Mae Newcomb Woodard and Rebecca Newcomb Murray and brother, James L. Newcomb. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Trellis Supportive Care, Winston Salem Forsyth, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston Salem, NC 27103.
