Lizabeth Amy Fournier

August 4, 1961 — January 29, 2021

Our beloved mother, sister, aunt and friend, Lizabeth Amy Fournier (fondly known as “Liz”, or by close loving family “Beth”) left this earth unexpectedly on January 29, 2021. She had made the decision recently to move to Lexington, NC to be with her sister, but had lived in Taunton, MA and from 1999 – 2020 lived in Cleveland, OH.

A celebration of Liz’s life will be planned for a later date.

Liz is preceded in death by her beloved son Gregory James Fournier; the father of her children and best friend Normand Paul Fournier; her companion and friend Andrew “AJ” Lance; her father Johnnie Singletary; her mother, Ruth Grace Singletary; her sister, Grace McKewen; and her brother, Clarence “Bud” Guy Backherms.

Left to cherish her memory is her dear son Normand Michael Fournier (Sarah) of Cleveland, OH; her beloved sister and soulmate Jackie Grover (Jon) of Lexington, NC; her loving nieces Samantha Austin (Timothy Swing) of Salisbury, NC; Amy Myers (Brandon) of Lexington, NC; Lauren Winter (Tom) of Fremont, NH; Kelsey Guarino (Brandon) of Augusta, GA; her nephews Andrew and Justyn Fournier of Atkinson, NH; Ryan Picard (Sarah) of Derry, NH; Shawn Fournier (Katie) and Will Chapman of Haverhill, MA; as well as her grandchildren, Normy, Kyla, Sky, Hailey and Taylor, and many great nieces and nephews.

Liz was born August 4, 1961 in Arkansas City, Kansas to Ruth and Johnnie Singletary. She was the youngest of seven children and formed an inseparable bond with her sister, Jackie, as if they were twins, born 17 months apart.

After graduating from Middleborough High School in Middleborough, MA she married her best friend Normand P. Fournier. They went on to be married for 28 years. Through their marriage, Norm’s career took Liz to live in many states, including Massachusetts, Florida, North Carolina, and Ohio. In 1983 they welcomed their first son, Normand, and in 1985 they welcomed their second son, Gregory. Liz loved her sons with such a voracity that was beyond measure. She always did for them above and beyond and loved them more than even herself.

Liz collected things she loved such as anything with ladybugs, Betty Boop, Coca-Cola bears, and “It’s a Wonderful Life” memorabilia. She loved to find knick-knacks and make items that others would enjoy. She was wonderful at sewing and crocheting.

Whether you called her Mom, Liz, Beth, or Aunt Beth, it is agreed upon by all that she played such an important role in all the lives she touched and she will be forever, fondly and greatly missed and this world is a much dimmer place without her here.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to your local SPCA, as she had such a love for animals and would not want to see any of them without. Liz loved her dogs and cats like they were her babies.
