Lois Lorene Koonts Porter, 82, of Lexington, died Wednesday, Oct. 18, 2006, at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home in Winston- Salem after a two-year illness. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Davidson Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel, by the Rev. Ed Sears. Burial will be in Forest Hill Memorial Park. Mrs. Porter was born Sept. 15, 1924, in Davidson County to Willie Roscoe Koonts and Lela Cross Koonts. She was a former employee of Peerless Inc., and a member of Reeds Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence M. Porter, on Jan. 5, 1988; a brother, Billy Grant Koonts, in January 1972; and a granddaughter, Sandra Freedle Bailey Goss. Surviving are one daughter, Norma Freedle and her husband, Junior, of Lexington; three grandchildren, Debra Freedle Corn, Anita Freedle Milsap and her husband, Chris, and Rhonda Freedle Huffman and her husband, David; five great-grandchildren, Terry Lee Bailey Jr. and his wife, Stacy, Shaundee Woosley, Hannah Milsap, Corri Milsap and Kinsey Milsap; one stepgreat-great-grandchild, Cali Eason; and two sisters, Maxine Koonts Yarborough of Reeds and Christine Koonts Smith and her husband, James H., of Lexington. The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:30 tonight at Davidson Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel, and other times at the home of the daughter on N.C. Highway 150 North.
