Lonnie Curtis McLeod, 73, of Denton, passed away on Monday, July 13, 2026.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 25, 2026, at 4:00 PM in the Davidson Funeral Home Chapel, with Pastor Rock Hedrick officiating. The family will receive friends from 3:00 until 4:00 PM prior to the service at the funeral home.
Lonnie was born on May 2, 1953, in Arkansas, to the late Cletus McLeod and Drucilla McLeod. He worked for many years in the textile industry before later retiring from Pepsi-Cola. He was a member of Deliverance Tabernacle and valued the friendships and fellowship he found through his church.
Lonnie enjoyed staying busy and was always working on a project. He loved camping, fishing, and tinkering with just about anything that needed fixing. He was well known for making homemade molasses, a tradition enjoyed by family and friends. He also enjoyed spending time outdoors and appreciated the simple things in life.
His family was very important to him, especially his role as Pawpaw. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and took pride in being part of their lives. He also cherished the many years he shared with his wife, Amy, and valued the friendships he made throughout his life, including his longtime friend, Gilbert Futrell.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, David McLeod and Tommy McLeod; and his sister, Diane Tindal.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Amy McLeod, of the home; children, Jennifer Turner (Neal), Jessica Denee (Michelle), Shane Grubb (Sam), and Starr Shipwash (Deano); grandchildren, Curtis Turner, Morgan Turner, Elliotte McLeod, Ronnie Benfield, Danica Grubb, Mason Grubb, Karman Tysinger, Vyncent Tysinger, Gunner Shipwash, and Remi Shipwash; his longtime friend, Gilbert Futrell (Nan); and his beloved dog, London.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Deliverance Tabernacle, 3005 Old Highway 109, Lexington, NC 27292.
