Mrs. Mary Lorene Smith Shoaf, 88, of Arvil Hunt Road, died Sunday, July 17, 2011 at Pine Ridge Health and Rehab in Thomasville after declining health.
A funeral service will be held at 4:00 PM Wednesday, July 20 at Reeds Baptist Church, by the Revs. Dave Williams and Coley Rimmer. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 PM Tuesday at Davidson Funeral Home.
Mrs. Shoaf was born July 28, 1922 in Davidson County to Noah Alexander Smith and Lessie Snyder Smith. She retired from the Davidson County Library System, where she was the Book Mobile driver for 11 years. She was also a member of Reeds Baptist Church, where she was very active in her early years. Her husband, Joseph Corbet Shoaf, preceded her in death.
She is survived by her son, Clark Shoaf and wife, Susan, of Durham; her daughter, Sheryl Greenwood and husband, Bill, of Kernersville; her brothers, Weldon Smith, Jack Smith, and Gene Smith, all of Lexington, and Nolan Smith of Welcome; her sisters, Evelyn Sink and Pattie Payne, both of Lexington, and Betty Chloe Campbell of Morganton; her grandchildren, Cameron Joy Shoaf, Kevin Greenwood, and Emily Bailey; and her great grandchildren, Kenan Greenwood, Brayden Greenwood, Greyson Greenwood, Lawson Greenwood, Megan Bailey and Nathan Bailey.
