Lorenza Payne, 87, of Deaton Young Rd., Lexington passed away Thursday, December 17, 2015 in Brian Center Nursing Home.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Sunday, December 20, 2015 at Antioch Baptist Church with Revs. Roy Queen and John Malek officiating. Burial will follow in Payne Family Cemetery on Deaton Young Rd., Lexington.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 pm Saturday at Davidson Funeral Home.
Mr. Payne was born July 6, 1928 in Swain County to Raymonth G. Payne and Dora Stanford Payne. He had worked in the furniture industry and was a member of Antioch Baptist Church. Lorenza was US Army Veteran during the Korean Conflict. Preceding him in death was his parents, a great grandchild, Riley Burgess, five brothers, Roy, Grady Estes, Dillard, Fessie Payne; three sisters, Eva Queen, Vadie Queen and Thelma Payne.
Surviving are his wife, Myrtle Young Payne of the home; two sons, David Payne (Delphine), Calvin Payne (Teresa) both of Lexington; two daughters, Edith Kepley of Lexington, Essie Burgess (David) of Marston, NC; 10 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; a sister, Lucy Starr of Welcome; and many loving cousins, nephews and nieces.
