Loretta Griffin

Loretta Mary Griffin, age 78, of Lexington, passed away peacefully on September 30, 2025, at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center.

Born in Queens County, New York, Loretta was the daughter of the late Thomas F. Kenny and Florence Kenny. She was married to the love of her life, Patrick Griffin, with whom she shared many years of devotion and family life.

Loretta first worked as a secretary for JP Morgan, where she was admired for her professionalism and kindness. Later in life, she worked for Babies-R-Us where she loved helping expectant mothers choose the things they would need for their new babies. Outside of her career, she enjoyed bowling, reading, and most of all, spending time with her family. Her warm heart, quick wit, and joyful spirit touched all who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Richard Kenny; sister, Mary Kenny; her sister-in-law, Gloria Nieto; and nephews Brian Kenny and Dan Feldman.

Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Patrick; sons, Sean Griffin, Eamonn Griffin and wife Tess, and Patrick T. Griffin; brothers, Thomas Kenny and wife Jeanne, and Kevin Kenny and wife Clare; sisters, Joanne Kenny; brothers-in-law, Greg Gallagher, Johnny Griffin, and Tony Griffin, and sisters-in-law, Carol Hall Kenny, Barbara Richardson, and Margo Donohue; and many nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held Thursday, October 9, 2025, at Davidson Funeral Home Chapel, with Father Gober officiating. Burial will follow at the National Cemetery in Salisbury. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, October 8, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Davidson Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Davidson County Animal Shelter, honoring Loretta’s love of animals.
