Lorraine Furr

Lorraine "Butch" House Furr, 69, of Abbotts Avenue, lost a brave and courageous battle with brain cancer Wednesday, Nov. 12, 2008, at Hospice Home of High Point. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Davidson Funeral Home by Preacher Clyde Akers. Mrs. Furr was born Jan. 22, 1939, in Davidson County to Thomas Thurmond House and Charlotte Wilson House Volpe. She was a graduate of Ashemore Business College and a former cafeteria cashier with Lexington City Schools. She enjoyed her trips to Cherokee, loved beach music, playing on her computer and also working crossword puzzles. Mrs. Furr was preceded in death by her father and her stepfather, John Joseph Volpe. Surviving are her husband of 47 years, Richard Eugene Furr of the home; a son, Michael Furr and his wife, Michelle, of Lexington; a daughter, Tracy Dingwall and her husband, Rick, of Lexington; six grandchildren, Mandy Furr, Tiffani Brenseke, Johnny Furr, Trey Cecil, Drake Cecil and Tanner Furr; her mother of Lexington; and two brothers. The family will receive friends after the memorial service and other times at the home. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Davidson County, P.O.
