Louis Beck

Louis Odell Beck, 91, of Cardinal Drive, died Tuesday, January 27 at Hinkle Hospice House. A funeral service will be held at 11 am Friday, January 30 at First United Methodist Church, where he was a longtime member, by the Revs. Jamie Armstrong and Doug Rowe. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 am Friday at the church prior to the funeral service. Mr. Beck was born July 24, 1923 in Davidson County to Luther Odell Beck and Ethel Foust Beck Hedrick. He attended Davis Townsend Schools and was a veteran of the US Navy, serving in World War II on the USS Guam. He was the former owner and operator of Beck’s Body Shop for more than forty years. He was also a member of VFW Post 3074 and the Lions Club. His parents, his brother, David E. Beck, and his sister in law, Betty Pickett Graves Rue, preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife of 72 years, Jo Doris Pickett Beck of the home; his son, Larry Beck and wife, Terri, of Salisbury; his grandchildren, Julie E. Finnegan and Michael L. Beck and wife, Julie; his great grandchildren, Matthew and Will Finnegan, and Justin, Ryan, Morgan, and Kelsey Beck; his sister, Ruth Beck Hedrick of Denton; his sisters in law, Jeanne Beck of Lexington, and Billie Pickett Sink and husband, Homer, of Greensboro; and a host of nieces and nephews. Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church, 310 S. Main Street, Lexington NC 27292 or to Hospice of Davidson County, 200 Hospice Way, Lexington NC 27292.
