Louis Clyatt Coleman, 78, of Dellwood Drive, died Thursday, December 8, 2011, at his home.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Monday, December 12, 2011, at Second Presbyterian Church, where he was a member, with the Rev. Brian Rummage officiating. Burial with military graveside rites by Davidson County Honor Guard will follow at Forest Hill Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, December 11, 2011, at Davidson Funeral Home and other times at the home.
Mr. Coleman was born November 8, 1933, in Davidson County, to Ernest Bruce Coleman and Zula Wrenn Coleman. He was a truck driver with Billings Freight System and retired after 35 years of service. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict and was a member of VFW Post 3074 and American Legion Post 8. He was also a Elder at his church. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by brothers, June Coleman, Burnette Coleman, Ralph Coleman and Billy Coleman; and sisters, Frances Berrier, Alice Jean Roberts, and Phyllis Crime.
Surviving are his loving wife of 54 years, Louise Story Coleman of the home; son, Eugene Coleman and wife, Kelly, of Mebane; daughter, Luann Smith and husband, Bobby, of Linwood; grandchildren, Erin Smith of Linwood, Chandler Coleman, Kayla Coleman and Grayson Coleman, all of Mebane; sister, Flora Lee Van Hoy of Lexington; sisters-in-law, Jean Coleman and Nancy Johnson, both of Florida.
