Louise Raxter Truett

Louise Raxter Truett, 91, of Jackson Avenue, died Sunday, April 27, 2008, at her home. A funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Ebenezer United Methodist Church by the Rev. Alvin Pope. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Memorial Park Cemetery. Mrs. Truett was born May 9, 1916, in Cherokee County to Nelson Raxter and Harriet Elizabeth Watson Raxter. She spent most of her life in Davidson County. She was a member of Ebenezer United Methodist Church where she was the Communion steward for many years and a member of the Ladies Bible Class. She was a devoted wife, a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was married to her husband, Vincent, for 70 years before his death on Dec. 11, 2007. She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Lena Adams, Nannie Battle and Opal McFalls, and a brother, Arthur Raxter. Surviving are two sons, James Nelson Truett and his wife, Shirley, of Lewisville and Bobby Ray Truett and his wife, Mallie, of Winston-Salem; three grandchildren, Tiffany Barry and Tenley Long, both of Winston-Salem, and Lane Nelson Truett of Lewisville; seven great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews who were special to her. The family will see friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Tuesday at Ebenezer United Methodist Church. The family requests that in lieu of flowers memorials be directed in Mrs. Truett's memory to the Ebenezer United Methodist Church, c/o Allen Fritts, Treasurer, 387 Old Garden Road, Lexington, NC 27295. The family would like to express special gratitude to Ms. Peggy Hawks and Ms. Lois George for taking such excellent care of Mrs. Truett for two years. Also to all their good and caring neighbors and the many visits by the minister and fellow church members.
