Lucile "Lucy" Griffin Leonard

Lucile "Lucy" Griffin Leonard, 85, of Brian Center, formerly of Ridgewood Drive, died Saturday, Nov. 18, 2006, at Brian Center. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at First United Methodist Church, where she was a member, by the Rev. Carl Lindquist. Burial will be in Lexington City Cemetery. Mrs. Leonard was born Nov. 28, 1920, in Lee County to Kemp Battle Griffin and Jessie Scott Griffin. At her church, she was a member of the Spruill Co-ed Class and United Methodist Women Group 2 and had served on the Administrative Board and other committees. She retired as supervisor of cafeterias for the Davidson County Schools. During World War II, she served in the Army in Italy and North Africa and was discharged as a second lieutenant. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bruce Reid Leonard, on March 20, 1981; a sister, Sarah Billings; and a brother, Jack Griffin. Surviving are two sons, Reid Leonard of Salisbury and Ed Leonard and his wife, Melissa, of Kenner, La.; a grandson, Bruce Leonard; and two nieces. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at Davidson Funeral Home in Lexington. Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church, 310 S.
