Lucille Hedrick Garner, 89, of East Center Street Extension, died Tuesday, June 19, 2012, after three years of declining health and a patient of Lexington Health Care for six weeks.
A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Hedrick's Grove United Church of Christ, where she was a lifetime member, by the Rev. William Sowers. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Davidson Funeral Home, Lexington and other times at the home of her granddaughter, Melissa Thompson, on Tussey Road.
Mrs. Garner was born Nov. 20, 1922, in Davidson County to William Henry Hedrick and Ida Bell Swing Hedrick. She graduated from Davis-Townsend High School and Jones Business College and was a retired supervisor for National Outlet. At her church, she was a Sunday school teacher, deacon and a member of the choir. Preceding her in death was her husband, Harvey Hoyle Garner, May 21, 1995; two brothers, William Hedrick and J.W. Hedrick; and three sisters, Mary Palmer, June Lambeth and Clara Faye Palmer.
Surviving are a son, Danny Garner of Lexington; a granddaughter, Melissa Thompson and husband Shannon; two great-grandchildren, Meredith Huffman and husband Josh and Matt Hedrick; two great-great-grandchildren, Jordan Huffman and Zy Huffman; a brother, Lowell Hedrick and wife Rachel of Lexington; and two sisters, Nancy Swing and Betty Harvey, both of Lexington.
