Former Lexington resident, Lucille Barney Lampley, 85, died peacefully, with her family by her side Friday, July 29, 2011, at the home of her daughter in Mocksville, NC Her final days were spent surrounded by family members that she loved throughout her lengthy and very memorable life.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Wednesday, August 3, 2011 in Davidson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Tommy Robertson officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Hill Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 pm Tuesday, August 2, 2011 at the funeral home and other times at their respective homes. Lucille loved her children more than her life. She was a friend to all and gave to anyone in need.
Mrs. Lampley was born January 18, 1926 in Davie County to James Frank Barney and Georgia Hendrix Barney. She was a retired employee of Young Hinkle Furniture Co. Preceding her in death were her parents, a step-mother, Grace Allen Barney, husbands, John Frank Godbey and Grover Lampley, and a sister, Elsie Myers.
Surviving are two sons, James (Red) Godbey of Mocksville, Ron Godbey and wife, Peggy of Georgia; two daughters, Diane Robertson and husband, Tommy of Mocksville, Sherri Hayes and husband, James of Lexington, 9 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, 2 great greatgrandchildren; two brothers, George Barney and wife, Betty, Melvin Barney both of Lexington, two sisters, Marie Beck and husband, Clifford, Lillian Boone and husband, Willie both of Lexington.
