Lucille Swicegood Lanning, 88, of Lee Circle, died Tuesday, December 20, 2011, at Hinkle Hospice House.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, December 27, 2011, at Reeds Baptist Church, where she was a member, with the Rev. Dave Williams officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, December 26, 2011, at Davidson Funeral Home and other times at the home on Lee Circle.
Mrs. Lanning was born May 3, 1923, in Davidson County, to Thomas R. Swicegood and Mary Beard Swicegood. She was a secretary for Lanning Radio and TV; and a member of VFW Post 3074 Ladies Auxilliary. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, William Franklin Lanning; son, William F. Lanning Jr.; brothers, Harley Swicegood, Willis Swicegood, and Bob Swicegood; and sisters, Thelma Parks, Lois Goolsby, Arlene Reed and Dorothy Motsinger.
Surviving are daughter, Laurinda Brinson and husband, Rev. Carlton Brinson, of Thomasville; grandchildren, Alan Shoaf, Lisa Thompson and husband, Rick, Maria Conti, Luke Lanning, Jamie Shoust, Carl Brinson, and Larry Brinson; great-grandchildren, Brett Thompson, Alex Shoust, Nicholas Shoust, Jesse Hammock, Jayden Lanning, Alexis Lanning, and Matthew Brinson.
