Lucille Koontz Thayer

November 14, 1919 — January 21, 2013

Lucille Koontz Thayer, 93, of Abbotts Creek Center, formerly of Hillside Drive, Lexington passed away Monday, January 21, 2013, at Abbotts Creek Care and Rehabilitation Center, Lexington. A memorial service will be held at a later date with the Rev. Bruce Langley officiating. Mrs. Thayer was born November 14, 1919 in Davidson County, to Levi Artis Koontz and Mattie Lanier Koontz. She was retired Owner and Operator of Thayer Cleaners and was a member of Beulah United Church of Christ. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Joseph Thayer who died 1982; a son, Joseph W. Thayer, who died in 1950; her brother, Garland Koontz; and sister, Magdelene K. Leonard. Surviving are nephews, Eugene Leonard of Winston-Salem, Phil Leonard of Lexington; and nieces, Nancy Leonard of Lexington, Carolyn L. Cheatwood of San Angelo, Texas, Wendi K. Raisig of Atlanta, Ga., and Mary Taylor of Reidsville; and special friends, Jean Brown and the Rev. Bruce Langley, both of Lexington. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Beulah United Church of Christ, P.O. Box 181, Welcome, NC 27374. A special thank you is extended to the staff of Lexington Medical Center including Dr. Nagaraj; and the staff at Abbotts Creek for the care given to Mrs. Thayer.
