Lucille Stinson Ward, 84, of East Old Highway 64, died Wednesday, September 21, 2016, at Wake Forest Baptist Health – Lexington Medical Center, following declining health of several years. The funeral will be 4 p.m. Sunday at New Jerusalem United Church of Christ, where she was a member for over 50 years, with the Revs. Jimmy J. Norred and Butch Conrad officiating . Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at Davidson Funeral Home from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday and other times at the home of her son, Jonathan Ward. Mrs. Ward was born July 11, 1932, in Iredell County, to John Floyd Stinson and Nannie Lawson Stinson. She attended Appalachian State University. At her church she was a member of the NJUCC Women and a Sunday school teacher. Mrs. Ward was CFO of Fisher Ward Dairy and Willowmore Springs. She was a leader for 4H Club for many years and enjoyed helping with the Dairy shows. She was instrumental in showing dairy cows and letting children have the experience of showing the cows at county fairs. At the fair she set up a milking station to help the community understand and experience the chore of milking cows. She shared her cows with neighboring churches and other civic clubs in the area. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Charles Fisher Ward Sr., who died March 5, 2010; brothers, Boyce Stinson, John Pressley Stinson, Robert Dixion Stinson, Buford Bryson Stinson, and Willie Stinson; and sisters, Margaret Elizabeth Stinson and Mary Helen Stinson. Surviving are her sons, Charles Ward Jr., Jonathan Ward and wife Monica, all of Lexington, and James Ward of Raleigh; grandchildren, Ashton, Haley, Gracie and Madison; and four great-grandchildren, Mason, Keeleigh, Aubrey, and Eli.
