Lawrence Rayford “Lucky” Bivens, 95, of Lee Smith Road, passed away Sunday January 23, 2022 at his home.
A funeral service will be held 11 am Thursday January 27, 2022 at Near Calvary Baptist Church with Rev. Jeff Walser officiating services. Burial with military graveside rites will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 10 am to 11am Thursday January 27, 2022, at the church, and other times at the home on Lee Smith Road.
Mr. Bivens was born August 22, 1926 in Lincoln County to Otis Isiah Bivens and Essie Hullett Bivens. He was former owner/operator of Bivens Parts, a veteran of the United States Marine Corp and was a member of VFW Post #3074, Amvets Post #13 and American Legion Post #8. Lucky was preceded in death by his parents; 5 brothers, Robert Bivens, George Bivens, Leroy Bivens, Cecil Bivens and John Bivens; and three sisters, Ruth Wilson, Corinne Smith and Pearl Chapman.
Surviving is his wife Linda Lee Norman Bivens, of the home; his son, Tony Bivens of Lexington; two daughters, Catherine Vess (Gerald) of Old Fort NC, and Amanda Bolz (Daniel) of Lexington; one brother, Clint Bivens, all of Lexington; one sister, Glenda Bean ( Gary) of Virginia; 9 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild.
