Lucy Owens Newsome

Lucy Owens Newsome, 86 died Wednesday February 24, 2010 in Lexington Memorial Hospital after declining health of several years.  Funeral service will be 4:00 PM Saturday at Davidson Funeral Home with Revs. David Davis and J. Randy Hall officiating.  Burial will follow in Macedonia United Methodist Church Cemetery.    The family will receive friends from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM prior to the service and at other times at the home of her daughter, Patsy Trivette, 9348 Hwy 8, Lexington.   Mrs. Newsome was born in Davidson County on September 10, 1923 to Thomas Owens and Mary Broadway Owens.  She was retired from Dixie Linwood Furniture and a member of Macedonia United Methodist Church.   She was preceded in death by her husband, William “Bill” Newsome on March 2, 1978, grandchildren, Paul Woodall and Robert Woodall, Jr., six brothers and three sisters.   Surviving are sons, Jerry Newsome and Billy M. Newsome and wife Carol, daughters,  Mary N. Lanning and husband, Buck, and Patsy N. Trivette all of Lexington, six grandchildren, Sherri Lanier and husband Robert, Kenny Newsome, Benny Newsome and wife Vivian, Larry Beck, Jr. and wife Daiva, Terry Lanning and wife Dusty and Allen Lanning and nine great grandchildren.   Davidson Funeral Home is serving the family.     Online condolences may be made at www.davidsonfuneralhome.net
