Lue Swicegood Williams, passed away at the age of 92 on Friday, December 3, 2021, at her home.
A brief graveside service will be held 2:00 pm on Sunday December 12, 2021 at Sandy Creek Cemetery at 648 Giles Road, Lexington NC with Rev Jennifer Ginn presiding.
(If you think you will need a chair, feel free to bring one. In case of rain, the service will be held in the sanctuary at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church. If held inside, social distancing and masks will be required.)
Mrs. Williams was born in Tyro on April 1, 1929, to Carl Ross and Maude Lue Tempia Nance Swicegood. She was married to William Pinkey Williams Jr. of Churchland. She attended Lenior Ryne College before graduating from Catawba College. She taught for 33 years in the Davidson County Schools, mostly at Tyro School. After retirement, she taught adult education at Davidson Davie County Community College. She was a life-long member of St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Tyro.
Lue was a writer, poet, scholar, friend, caretaker, champion of the underdog, and always a teacher. She will be remembered and missed…gone, but never forgotten. She is survived by her children, Gale Easter (Sam), Tim Williams (Debbie), Joan Williams, and Todd Williams; grandchildren, Zack Sink (Jessica), Chris Williams (Lexi), Katie Williams, and James Kinsella; great-grandchildren, Isla Sink, Levi Sink, and Zeke Williams; and godson, Curtis Giles.
