Lula Raxter Day, 77 of Crews Lake Rd., Lexington died Friday April 29, 2011 at her home after an extended illness.
A funeral service will be Monday May 2, 2011 at 4:00 PM at Davidson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. David Robinson officiating. Burial will follow at Lexington City Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Sunday at Davidson Funeral Home and other times at the home.
Mrs. Day was born in Cherokee County, NC on March 21, 1934 to Utie Hyatt Raxter and Mary Magdalene Barker Raxter. She was a homemaker and a Baptist. Her husband Stokes Love Day preceded her in death.
Surviving are sons Lynn Day and wife Debbie; Russell Day and wife Rhonda all of Lexington and Jeffrey Day and wife Renee of Thomasville; daughters, Sheila Ramsey and husband Steve of Rutherford College, NC; Peggie Gaines and husband Roger of Goldston; Sharon Day of New Mexico; Judy Day and Lisa Sechrest and husband Donnie all of Lexington; grandchildren, Katina; Jennifer; Sabrina; Jason; Candyse; Walter; Melanie; Eric; Buddy; Jerome; Jared; Maggie and Kevin; great grandchildren, Emily; Nathan; Shiane; Mason; Hailey; Carson; Briley; Riley; Heidi and Dillon; brothers Garland Raxter and wife Lily of OR; Sonny Raxter and wife Peachie of Hayesville, NC; Clayton Raxter of Murphy; sisters, Barbara Ann Sain of Valdese; Laura James and husband Jesse and Alma Almond all of Murphy.
