Luther Carl Beckerdite, Jr.

Luther Carl Beckerdite, Jr. age 84 passed away early Thursday morning at Forsyth Medical Center. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday (11/03/2012) at Canaan United Methodist Church with Pastor Doug Miller and Rev. Lee Pollock officiating. L. C. was born on May 31, 1928 in Forsyth County to Luther Carl Beckerdite, Sr. and Ethel Whitaker Beckerdite. He served in the US Army and was a paratrooper in the 82nd airborne. He was a supervisor for the City of Winston-Salem in the Housing Redevelopment Division, and, with his wife, was owner of Willow Oak Antiques. A member of Canaan United Methodist Church, L. C. was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Betty Criner, and a granddaughter Megan. Surviving are his wife Charlotte Payne Beckerdite; daughter, Ann Beckerdite Hartman and husband Mark of Lexington; son, Luke Beckerdite and wife Peggy Scholley of Williamsburg, VA; sister, Billie Combs and husband Bobby of Winston-Salem; three grandchildren, Adam and wife Stacey, Abby, and Aaron. Memorials may be made to Canaan United Methodist Church, 1760 Shady Grove Church Rd., Winston-Salem, NC 27107. Davidson Funeral Home, Hickory Tree Chapel is assisting the family.
