Mabel James Cawley

Mabel James Cawley, 97, of Lexington, passed away Monday November 10, 2025, at Davidson Health and Rehab in Lexington.

A funeral service will be held 2:00 pm Sunday November 16, 2025 at Victory Baptist Church where she was a member with Pastor Jeff Mabe. Burial to follow in the church cemetery

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 1:00 pm to 2:00 at the church.

Mabel was born November 10, 1928, in Forsyth County to Willie Edgar James and Fannie Rachel James. She preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Bruce Beaford Cawley; seven brothers,

Bowlie James, Matt James, Chalie James, Rufus James, George James, Henry James, and Walter James; and five sisters, Bitha James, Emma Hardin, Mary Ferguson, Nan Delappe and Sarah Reynolds.

Surviving are two daughters, Lynn Joyner (Doug) of Lawsonville NC and Rhonda Leonard (Wayne) of Lexington; 3 grandchildren, Eric Barker (Kerri), Joseph Joyner (Sarah) and Mary White (Justin) and 6 great-grandchildren, Heidi Barker, Rileigh Barker, Parker White, Hazel White, Emmaline Joyner and Holland Joyner.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Davidson Health and Rehab for their loving care for Mrs. Cawley.
