Mrs. Mabel Leonard Pickett, 84, of Happy Hill Road, Lexington, died Saturday night, Sept. 1, 2007, at her residence, after an illness of several weeks.
The funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 5, at First United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Carl Lindquist officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Memorial Park.
Mrs. Pickett was born Feb. 28, 1923, in Davidson County to H. Luther Leonard and Robbie Shoaf Leonard. She was retired as co-founder and owner of Pickett Super Market. She was a member of First United Methodist Church and an active member of Spruill Co-Ed Sunday School class of the church. She was an avid gardener, was a sustaining member of Lexington Women' s Club and a charter member of the Genealogical Society of Davidson County. She was married to Jackson Alexander Pickett who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Japhia Leonard; and two sisters, Stamey Tarlton and Lillian Leonard.
She is survived by daughters Jackie P. Hearn and husband Joe, Carol P. Myers and husband Jim and Helen P. Morris and husband Joe, all of Lexington; sisters Marie Hinson and Catherine Leonard, both of Lexington, and Louise Pope of Welcome; grandchildren Wesley Elizabeth Skinner and husband Joseph, Mark A. Hearn and wife Kelle and Audrey Morris, all of Lexington; Justin B. Myers and wife Jennifer of Cornelius; and J. Brandon Myers and wife Kim of Cary; and great-grandchildren Rachel Skinner, Rebekah Skinner, Ali Myers, Jake Myers, Abby Myers, Mark Myers and Connor Hearn.
The family will see friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 4, at Davidson Funeral Home Lexington Chapel.
