Mackey Koontz, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully in his home on October 16. Born in Lexington, NC, to Paul and Susan Koontz, Mackey was a kind soul who touched the lives of many with his warmth and generosity. He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Susan Koontz; his brother, David Koontz; and his sons, Larry Paul Koontz and Thomas Glenn. Mackey is survived by his wife, Robin, with whom he shared many cherished years. He is also survived by his children, Christy Knight (Michael), Michael Koontz, and Jennifer Bullins, all of whom he loved dearly. His legacy continues through his grandchildren, Jocelin Knight, Adilyn Bullins, and Thomas Koontz, who brought immense joy to his life. Mackey also had a special place in his heart for his beloved cat, Spark Plug, who was a constant and loyal companion. Mackey worked at Leggett & Platt for 36 years before retiring, where he was known for his strong work ethic and dedication. He will be remembered for his deep love of family, his generosity, and his unwavering kindness to everyone he encountered. His memory will be cherished by all who knew him. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
