Madgelene James Johnson

September 11, 1942 — August 21, 2025

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Madgelene James Johnson, who departed this life on August 21, 2025, in Clemmons, North Carolina. Born on September 11, 1942, Madgelene lived a life marked by kindness, faith, and a genuine appreciation for the simple joys.

Madgelene embraced the world with an open heart and a warm smile. She found joy in the simple things, often embarking on spontaneous drives with no particular destination in mind. Her love for travel and adventure was matched only by her devotion to her faith as a member of Good Hope Methodist Church, where she found solace and community.

Those who knew Madgelene would describe her as a woman of simple pleasures, finding happiness in everyday moments and always ready with a friendly word. She was a beacon of light and a source of strength for those around her, always offering a listening ear and a helping hand. Her faith was the cornerstone of her existence, guiding her actions and shaping her interactions with others.

Madgelene is survived by her loving family, including her two grandchildren: Michael H. Jarrell (Chelsea) and Melissa J. Hayes (Chase), her two great-grandchildren: Madelyn Jarrell and Reid Jarrell, her sister Adelia Horton (Roger), and her brothers: Kim James (Jayne), Butch James (Judi), and Bill James. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband Kyle Gray Johnson, her daughter Angela Johnson Jarrell, and her parents Virgil Lee James and Audrey Carter James.

A graveside service will be held on Monday, August 25, 2025, 2 pm, at Good Hope Methodist Church.
