Mae Hedrick Beck, 101, of Allred Road, died Monday, August 26, 2013, at her home. The funeral will be at 4 p.m. Thursday, August 29, 2013, at Hedrick’s Grove United Church of Christ, with the Rev. William Sowers officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 3 to 4 p.m. Thursday prior to the service in the church sanctuary. Mrs. Beck was born in Davidson County on May 15, 1912, to Emma Corina Sink Hedrick and Jacob Edward Hedrick. She was a lifetime member of Hedrick’s Grove United Church of Christ. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Ivey Thomas Beck; two grandchildren, Billy Walton and Chris Beck; a son, Billy Beck; brothers, Carl Hedrick, Willis Hedrick, Millard Hedrick, Reid Hedrick, Reece Hedrick and Jack Hedrick; and a sister, Grace Leonard. Surviving are two daughters, LaVerne Kepley of the home and Jean Walton and husband Bill of Winston-Salem; a daughter-in-law, Anne Beck of Concord; three grandchildren, Tippy Varner and husband, Nathan of Lexington, Greg Beck and wife Charlotte of Mooresville, and Debbie Bayes and husband Troy of Saco, Maine; five great-grandchildren, Bren Varner and wife Jenny and Katherine Shoaf and husband Reynolds, all of Lexington, Hunter Beck and Sam Beck of Mooresville, and Lauren Bayes of Saco, Maine; three great-great-grandchildren, Holland Shoaf, Elizabeth Shoaf and Jay Varner, all of Lexington; and a sister-in-law, Ruby Earley. Memorials may be made to Hedrick’s Grove United Church of Christ, 3840 Allred Road, Lexington, NC 27292.
