Malcolm Lewis Myers Jr.

Malcolm Lewis Myers Jr., 81, of Linwood, passed away October 19, 2023, at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston Salem.

A celebration of his life will be held at 2:00 pm Tuesday, at Jersey Baptist Church, where he was a member, with the Revs. Kenneth Hall, Gary Myers, and Paul Batson officiating, and burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends following the service in the church multipurpose center.

Malcolm was born October 18, 1942, in Davidson County, to Malcolm Lewis Myers and Edna Mae Grubb Myers. Malcolm was a devoted member of the church and church family, where he served in several positions including Deacon, Sunday School Teacher, Church Training Director and served on multiple committees. Malcolm was a 1961 graduate of North Davidson High School, he also attended Davidson Industrial School where he studied mechanics. Was a retired firefighter with the Linwood Volunteer Department Station 41. He took great delight in his grandchildren, and great grandsons. He was their #1 fan at all events, and he was a fantastic Papaw. He had a love for animals, farming, hunting and antique Broncos. He spent most Sunday afternoons at his parent’s home place on Hunter Road in Midway, fellowshipping with his siblings. For several years, he and his wife found great joy together in breeding Poodles, Goldendoodles and Labradoodles. He loved to hear stories from owners about the love his pups had brought to their homes. He was a veteran having served in the Army National Guard for 6 years and was owner and operator of Myers Landscaping Inc for 46 years. His passion was his faith, church, family. Malcolm was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle, who will be missed by all. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers, Kenneth Daniel Myers, Billy Joe Myers, sister-in-laws, Janice Yountz Myers, Kate Gwaltney. Also, John Coppley and Nola Coppley, and Modena Link Coppley.

Left to cherish his memories are his loving wife, Rebecca “Becky” Coppley Myers of 58 years of the home, son, Mike Myers and wife Melissa, daughter, Wendy Myers Lewis and husband Brian, all of Lexington; also surviving are his grandchildren, Rachel Hall and husband Kenneth, Nicholas Lewis, Fallon Butler, and Bethany Myers, great grandsons, Fletcher Hall, and Gabe Morales brothers, Roger Myers and wife Jonie, Rev. Gary Myers and wife Joyce, Donald Myers and wife Pam, John Mark Myers and wife Glenda, sisters, Darlene Caudle and husband, Robert, Debra March and husband, Jim, sister-in-laws, Danna Myers, Judy Stoner and husband Frank, brother-in- laws, Wayne Gwaltney, Tommy Jolly and wife Diane, and host of nieces and nephews.
