Malinda Perkins Roof

Malinda Perkins Roof, 82, of Lexington, passed away February 21, 2022, at Hinkle Hospice House in Lexington.

A celebration of her life will be held at 11:00 am Friday, February 25, 2022, at Davidson Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Darrell Sluder and will be streamed at www.facebook.com/davidson.funeralhome .  Masks are encouraged.  Burial will follow in the Mt. Tabor United Church of Christ Cemetery.

Mrs. Roof was born July 1, 1939, in Davidson County to Colden and Grace S. Perkins. She was a graduate of Davis Townsend High School and attended Catawba College.   She retired from Davidson EMC, (Energy United) after 31 years working in payroll and accounting.  Malinda was loyal and lifetime member of Mt. Tabor United Church of Christ where she taught Sunday School and served on the Women’s Guild.  She was a volunteer with Meals on Wheels and enjoyed traveling after her retirement to various places such as Hawaii, Alaska, Germany and the Holy Land.  She and Lowell spent many enjoyable years at their vacation home in Cherry Grove Beach, SC.  She always dealt with physical adversities with grace, grit, and determination.  Her friends and family will miss her sweet spirit.

She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Lowell Roof of the home; her children, Amy Snyder (Charles) of Lexington, Caroline Pennell (John) of Greer, SC, and Michael Roof (Jane) of Charlotte; her grandchildren, Megan Bruff (Lucas) of Lexington, John Pennell III of Charleston, SC, Whitney Leehr (Doug) of Burnsville, Hannah Pennell (Fiancée, John Fissel) of Charleston, SC, Luke Pennell of Atlanta, GA, and Sarah Roof and Sam Roof, both of Charlotte; and 3 great-grandchildren, Byson & Addie Leehr and Micah Bruff, and her special cousin, Marguerita Sandrock of Lexington.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mt. Tabor United Church of Christ, in care of the music fund, 1002 East Holly Grove Road, Lexington, NC 27292.
