Mamie Williams Potts Beam

Mamie Williams Potts Beam, 76, of Alston Brook Nursing Home, formerly of North Cecil Street, died Monday, June 11, 2012, at Alston Brook, following six months of declining health. The funeral will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 13, 2012, at Davidson Funeral Home, with Pastor Terry Coates and Sammy Allison Sr. officiating. Burial will follow in Lexington City Cemetery. The family will receive friend from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 12, 2012, at the funeral home and other times at the home of her daughter, 154 Ed Tiser Road. Mrs. Beam was born July 10, 1935, in Rowan County, to Dewey Edward Williams and Rosa Potts Williams. She was retired from Stroh’s Container and a member of Spruce Street Baptist Church. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph “Bud” Beam Jr., who died December 5, 2006; and also her first husband, Elmo Potts. Surviving are daughters, Vicki Laws and husband Kenneth, Sheila Tussey and husband Randy, Patricia Roberts and husband Terry, and Stacey Potts, all of Lexington; five grandchildren, Chris Tussey and wife Lisa, Angela Rhodes and husband William, Michael Tussey and wife Heather, Philip Ragan, Jacob Laws and wife Megan, all of Lexington; great-grandchildren, Hali Snyder, Paetyn Rhodes, Madison Tussey, Brooklyn Ragan, and Ashlyn Ragan; brothers, James Williams and wife Nancy of Southmont, John Williams and wife Effie, and Ray Williams, all of Lexington; and sisters, Evelyn Wood of Lexington, Margaret Kreemer and husband Rick of Louisiana, and Brenda Ross and husband Malcom of Virginia. Memorials may be made to Alston Brook Nursing Home, 4748 Old Salisbury Road, Lexington, NC 27295.
