Manie Lee Byerly, age 99, of Lexington passed away Saturday morning (December 11, 2010) at Hinkle Hospice House.
Funeral service will be held 2:00 pm Tuesday (December 14, 2010) at the Davidson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Tommy Hepler officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Hill Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends at Davidson Funeral Home Monday night from 6:00 until 8:00 pm and at other times at the home of Danny Byerly, 1570 Reedy Creek Road, Lexington.
Manie was born in Davidson County, July 30, 1911 to Cicero Byerly and Bessie Hoffman Byerly. He was retired owner and operator of M.L. Byerly Grocery, and a retired farmer. He was a member of Leonard Road Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Phillip Byerly and a nephew David Lee Byerly.
Surviving are; one sister, Ida Elizabeth Byerly of Lexington; one great-niece, Annette Odom and husband Dale of Lexington; one great nephew, Danny Byerly and wife Rogjanna; three great-great nieces, Ashlynn Odom, Leighanna Byerly and Delanna Byerly; one great-great nephew, Caleb Odom.
He enjoyed visits from friends and close neighbors and Uncle Manie always had a story to tell for listening ears. He was excited to see his great nieces and nephews come along and gave them an endless supply of Milky Ways.
The family would like to recognize Dr. Nagaraj and Dr. Riemann and the staff at Hinkle House for their compassionate care shown to him and his family.
