Marcia Lynn Athay Myers, 62, of Lexington, passed away peacefully Tuesday, March 28, 2023, at Hinkle Hospice House with loved ones by her side.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 1, 2023, at 2:00 PM, at the Davidson Funeral Home Chapel, Lexington, with Dr. Robert Floyd officiating. Family will receive friends from 1:00 – 2:00 PM at the funeral home prior to the service. Interment to follow at Forest Hill Memorial Park in Lexington.
Marcia was born on April 14, 1960, in Davidson County, to the late Billy Joe Athay and Barbara Jean Hamilton Athay Parlier. She graduated from High Point College with a bachelor’s degree in Christian Education and went on to obtain her Pharmaceutical Technician Certification and worked as a Pharmacy Tech. Marcia had a passion for animal rescue, Hurricanes hockey, comics, and cartoons. Like her mother, she enjoyed sending greeting cards to friends and family, making many of them herself. She was a stranger to no one. She is preceded in death by her parents.
Left to cherish her memory is her husband of 39 years, Charles Myers, of the home; her son Nathan Myers, of the home; brothers Lee Athay (Theresa) of Tyro and Webb Athay (Barbara) of Holly Grove; her brother and sister-in-laws Irvin Myers (Lisa) of Mocksville, Joyce Boyles (Michael) of Apex, and Donald Myers (Fran) of Lexington; and numerous nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles, and cousins.
Marcia’s extended family included many, some by marriage or birth, others by choice. Her special kids were embraced, accepted, and changed forever by her love and care. Marcia’s circle of friends can be found far and wide, many missing her deeply. She was supportive of everyone, in so many ways.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to an animal rescue organization of your choice. Suggestions include the Humane Society of Davidson County 1120 Piedmont Drive, Lexington, NC 27295
