Marcus Glenn Pennington, 40, a resident of Winston-Salem, passed away April 12, 2023. Marcus was born in Davidson County on July 2, 1982 to Troy Glenn and Eileen Albert Pennington. He was a carpenter, learning the trade from his father, and worked for himself for many years. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, archery and marksmanship. He enjoyed volunteering his time on Sundays and holidays at Community Fellowship Moravian Church, where he and his wife attend. He was known most for his kind, gentle nature and his deep love of his family and friends.
Marcus was preceded in death by his grandparents, William and Madeline Pennington, Louis and Marian Albert, Clarence and Edith Byerly, and his father-in-law, Thomas Higdon.
A celebration of life will be held on Thursday, April 20, 2023 from 6-8 PM at Davidson Funeral Home in Winston-Salem. In lieu of flowers, please direct memorials to the North Carolina Wildlife Fund at ncwildlife.org.
Left to cherish Marcus’ memory is his wife, Jean Leonard, of the home; a daughter, Hailey Leonard; his parents, Glenn and Eileen Pennington; mother-in-law Anne Higdon; sister, Carla Poindexter (Brad) of Winston-Salem; brothers-in-law, Casey Higdon (Amanda) and Jacob Higdon (Angela); nieces, Mia and Monica Wolfe, Maddison Woodlief, Jayme Palmer, and Meredith Poindexter; a nephew, Jacob Poindexter; a great-niece, Parker Woodlief; and fur-baby, Sandy, as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins and friends. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
