Margaret Myers Delapp

February 3, 1927 — August 26, 2008

Margaret Myers DeLapp went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Tuesday, August 26, 2008, at Forsyth Medical Center. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday, August 29, 2008, at Good Hope United Methodist Church, were she was a member, by the Revs. Chris Bennett and Arthur Holland. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Mrs. DeLapp was born Feb. 3, 1927, in Davidson County, to Robert Franklin Myers and Della Nance Myers. She grew up in Pilgrim Reformed before joining Good Hope after her marriage to John Lawrence DeLapp. She was a member of Senior Friends, Unity Circle, and Willing Workers Sunday School Class. She also was church historian and had held every office in the United Methodist Women and was presented a life membership pin. She was very active in other church activities. Mrs. DeLapp represented Davidson County as a past delegate to the Senior Tar Heel Legislature. Her favorite pastime was giving to auction sales, furnishing her home with antiques and building doll houses for her many dolls. She and her husband, of 56 years, enjoyed traveling the country and working side by side, maintaining the family farm which has been in existence for over 100 years. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Grady, Lester, Silas, Ray, Jack, Jerry and Billy Joe Myers; and sisters, Clatie Everhart, Nannie Everhart, Colleen Jordan and Elizabeth Bernhart. Surviving are her loving husband and best friend, John Lawrence Delapp, of the home; sons, Robert DeLapp and wife, Suzanne, and John DeLapp, all of Lexington; and the joy of her life, her grandchildren, Jonathan, Elizabeth and Abbey DeLapp. The family would like to thank Dr. Christopher Thomas for all the love and concern shown to the family during Mrs. DeLapp's illness. They would also like to thank friends and neighbors who have meant the world to her. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Davidson Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel, and other times at the home.
