Margaret Fortner Ward

Margaret "Vononia" Ann Fortner Ward, 85 of Lexington NC, passed away Sunday August 31, 2025 at Pine Acres Nursing Rehab.

A graveside service will be held 1:00 pm Wednesday at Pilgrim Reformed Church, where she was a member, with Rev. Richard Moore officiating services.

The family will receive friends following the service.

Mrs. Ward was born September 5, 1939 in Rowan County to Franklin Alexander Fortner and Maggie Rebecca Goforth Fortner. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Dan Gray Ward, a daughter, Cynthia Orman and several brothers and sisters.

Surviving is her son, Kevin Ward (Terri) of Lexington; a brother, Luke Fortner (Beverly) of Tennessee, 4 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and a son-in-law Dean Orman.
