Margaret Caroline Hodges, 97, of Carolina Avenue, died Tuesday, Oct. 6, 2015, at Hinkle Hospice House.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at First Baptist Church, where she was a member, by Rev. Dr. Ray N. Howell 3rd and the Rev. Tommy Wilson. Burial will follow in Lexington City Cemetery.
Mrs. Hodges was born in Rocky Mount, Va., on Aug. 12, 1918, to Lucy Francis Young Custer and Chafen Charles Custer. She was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Archie Hodges.
Surviving are three sons, Jerry Lee Hodges and his wife, Merle, Michael David Hodges and his wife, Christine, and Charles Stephen Hodges and his wife, Vikki, all of Lexington; three grandchildren, Leigh Earnhardt and her husband, Jim, of Rockwell, Chad Hodges and his friend, Mia Shoaf, of Lexington, and Bryan Hodges and his wife, Rachele, of Lexington; and three great-grandchildren, Freedom, Abigayle and Katie Hodges, of Lexington.
The family would like to thank special friends, Patricia Sheffield and Mayola Banks, as well as Hospice of Davidson County and the many women who stayed with Margaret over the years.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m at Davidson Funeral Home and at the residence following the burial.
