Margaret "Micki" Berrier Smith

Margaret Katherine Berrier Smith, age 94 of Lexington passed away Tuesday night September 26, 2017 at Brookdale Assisted Living. Funeral service will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, September 30, 2017 in the Davidson Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel with Rev. Trudy Irving officiating. Entombment will follow at Guilford Memorial Park in Greensboro. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1:00 until 2:00 PM prior to the service. Margaret was born in Davidson County August 28, 1923 to Olin G. Berrier and Bessie Leonard Berrier. Margaret was retired from education having taught English and Music in Davidson County Schools and Lexington City Schools. She was a member of First Reformed United Church of Christ where she directed the junior choir and was a member of the adult choir. Recently the family donated her piano to Beulah United Church of Christ in her honor. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Russell Smith and her brother Leonard Berrier. Surviving are her son, Ward Smith and wife Beverly of Jasper, Georgia; grandsons, Ryan Smith and wife Emily of Valdosta, Georgia and Collier Smith of Brookhaven, Georgia; great-granddaughter, Cara Smith of Valdosta, Georgia; her sister, Jeanne Berrier Beck of Lexington; niece, Donna Beck Michael of Nashville, TN and nephew, Len Berrier of Lexington.
