Margaret Gail Beck Smith, 72 of Allred Road, died Sunday, January 25, 2015, at Hinkle Hospice House of Lexington after several years of declining health.
A memorial service will be held 11:00 am Thursday at Beck’s Reformed Church, where she was a member, by the Rev. James Byers. A private burial will be held in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the church from 10:00 am to 10:45 am Thursday and other times at the home on Allred Rd., Lexington.
Mrs. Smith was born December 17, 1942, in Davidson County, to Richard Thomas Beck and Margaret Paige Swing Beck. She was a homemaker. She was active in serving her church as president of the women’s guild, and a member of senior citizens group. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Terry Gene Smith; her brother, Tony Beck, and a brother in law, Bill Cross.
Surviving are her husband, Homer Gene Smith of the home, her son, Tracy W. Smith and wife Janet, and her daughter, Margaret Lynn Staton and husband Keith, all of Lexington; her grandchild, Casey Staton and her fiancé, Alan Skeen; her brother, Gerald Beck and wife, Susie, her sister, Louise Cross, all of Lexington; and a sister in law, Shelia Beck of Lexington.
In lieu of flowers, the family has ask that memorials be made to Hospice of Davidson County, 200 Hospice Way Lexington, NC 27292 or to the Cemetery Committee at Beck’s Reformed Church, 2845 Becks Church Road, Lexington, NC 27292
