Margaret Raker Trantham

Margaret Raker Trantham, age 89 of Sunrise Assisted Living, Raleigh formerly of Westover Dr.,Lexington died Monday in Sunrise Assisted Living. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Friday at Davidson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Tommy Wilson officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Hill Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 1:30 pm Friday, just prior to the service. Mrs. Trantham was born September 16, 1920 in Davidson County to Franklin Hobart Raker and Ethel Wray Westmoreland Raker. She was a Bookkeeper for Young Brothers and Raker Oil Co. and she was a member of First Baptist Church of Lexington. She taught Sunday School for the 6 year old children for over 30 years, and also playing the piano, and was a member of the Frady/Johnson Mission Group at First Baptist Church. Mrs. Trantham was the original Recording Secretary for the Genealogy Society of Davidson County. Mrs. Trantham also enjoyed her summer vacations at Long Beach in Brunswick County. She was preceded in death by her husband Marshall F. Trantham on January 5, 1984. Surviving are a son, Scott Trantham and wife, Marie of Raleigh; two grandchildren, Bertram Allen Trantham of Jackson, Michigan, Leslie Michelle Gilbert and husband, Mac of Raleigh; two great grandchildren, Ashelyn Claire Gilbert and Juliet Michelle Gilbert.
