Margarette Sloan

Mrs. Margarette Ashworth Sloan, age 85, of Alston Brook Nursing Center and formerly of Devonshire Drive, Lexington, died Saturday, March 29 at the Nursing Center. A Graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, April 1 at Forest Hill Memorial Park, conducted by Rev. Nancy Krall. Mrs. Sloan was born June 5, 1922 in Hall, Nebraska to Carl Ashworth and Esther Porter Ashworth. She was a homemaker and member of Wesley Heights United Methodist Church and of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Church. She was also a member of the V F W Post 3074 Ladies Auxiliary and had been a Red Cross Volunteer. She was married to Lewis W. Sloan, Jr. who died March 17, 2005. She was also preceded in death by a brother Donald Ashworth and a sister Lola Schellte. Mrs. Sloan is survived by a son, Douglas Lee Sloan and wife Lois of Grand Island, NE; a daughter Patricia Simmons and husband Arnold of Mt. Airy; a brother Harold Ashworth and wife Betty of Omaha, NE; and a Sister Jean Fisher of Grand Island, NE. Two Grandchildren, Christy Cassell and husband Chad of Mt. Airy and Steven Sloan of Grand Island, NE. The family will see friends following the service at the Cemetery.
