Margie Brandon Gentry

April 21, 1941 — November 2, 2019

Margie Brandon Gentry passed away unexpectedly on Saturday November 2 nd while visiting Kure Beach.

A memorial service will be held at 6:00pm Thursday Nov. 7 th in the Davidson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ray Harris officiating.  Visitation will be following the service.

Margie was born on April 21, 1941 in Rowan County to Paul and Carrie Simpson.  She retired from Scott’s Tackle Shop.  She was preceded in death by a daughter, Shari Phelps.

The day of her passing, Margie had enjoyed a final day on the beach with the love of her life, her ‘Danny’.  Margie is remembered by most as the owner and operator of Scott’s Tackle Shop on High Rock Lake.  She loved being home at the lake and  having her family around her.  She loved telling funny memories from her life at the tackle shop and the people that visited her there.  She was a wonderful, loving mother and grandmother.

Surviving are her husband, Danny Gentry, of the home; sisters, Wilma Hancock (Jerry), of Supply, NC and Mary Alice Crook of Savannah, GA;  son, Scott Phelps (Tanja), of Churchland; daughter, Donna King, of Lexington; grandchildren, Sammy Shermer, Jerry Shermer Jr., Colby King, Cooper King, Jacob Phelps and Sarah Phelps.

In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that donations be made to the Eastern North Carolina Alzheimer’s Association.
