Marie Barney Beck

Marie Barney Beck, 88, of Davidson County, passed away Thursday, December 7, 2023, at Hinkle Hospice House.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, December 12, 2023, at 2:00 PM, at Davidson Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel.

Burial will immediately follow the service at Forest Hill Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 7:00 PM Monday evening, December 11, 2023, at the funeral home.

Marie was born on April 25, 1935, in Mocksville, to the late James Frank Barney and Grace Allen Barney. She worked many years in the cafeteria at West Davidson Middle School and was a member of Jerusalem Baptist Church. Marie loved travelling, gardening, and camping, and enjoyed spending time with her family. She is remembered as a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.

Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her loving husband of over 60 years, Hugh Clifford Beck; brother, Melvin Barney; and sisters, Elsie Myers, and Lucille Lampley.

Left to cherish her memory is her daughter, Gwen Burkhart and husband Mark, of Lexington; one granddaughter, Kristen Stewart and husband Jed, of Lexington; and two great grandchildren, Autumn and Cole Stewart.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the caregivers who gave their time, love, and support over the past few years.
