Marie Steagall Griffin, 69, of Pilgrim Lane, died Saturday, Feb. 18, 2006, at Thomasville Medical Center.
The funeral will be at 7 Monday at Davidson Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel, by the Revs. Jeff Kelly and Jim Hutchinson. A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Blevins Cemetery in Shady Valley, Tenn.
Mrs. Griffin was born Feb. 4, 1937, in Johnson County, Tenn., to Oscar Charles Steagall and Mary Hand Steagall. She graduated from Johnson County High School and later received a nursing degree from Virginia Highland Community School of Nursing. She was also a registered nurse in North Carolina. She retired from the Randolph Correctional Center as a registered nurse and was a member of Lexington Church of Christ. She was preceded in death by her husband, Roger Griffin, in 1995.
Surviving are a brother, Charles Steagall and his wife, Nona, of Johnson City, Tenn.; a brother-in-law, James Griffin and his wife, Margie, of Cleveland, Ohio; a sister-in-law, Shirley Mayerle and her husband, Bud, of Lexington; several nieces and nephews; and special caregivers, Nancy Cockerham and JoAnn Elliot, both of Lexington.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 Monday at the funeral home.
