Marie Leonard Whitlock

Marie Leonard Whitlock, 81 of E. Holly Grove Rd. Lexington, died Friday December 3, 2021 at Hinkle Hospice House.

Graveside service will be 2:00 pm Monday December 6, 2021 at Mt. Tabor United Church of Christ Cemetery, with Rev. Darrell Sluder and Rev Daniel Downing officiating.

Family will see friends prior to graveside in the church parlor from 12:30 until 1:30 pm

Mrs. Whitlock was born in Davidson County on November 4, 1940 to Homer Ray Leonard and Mable Byerly Leonard. Marie worked for Davidson County Schools for 30 years, having worked at Ledford Middle School for 27 years. Mrs. Whitlock was a member of Mt. Tabor United Church of Christ. She was a past member of Spencer Moose Lodge and served with the Ladies Auxiliary with Holly Grove Fire Department.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband Jimmy Whitlock in 2012. Left to cherish her memory are her daughters; Onda Goins and husband Jeff, Nita Jarrett and husband Paul all of Lexington. Also surviving are her seven grandchildren who were the love of her life, James Goins and  Laura, Stratton Goins and wife Mary, Preston Goins and Sarah Goins, Kayla Smith and husband Zach, Noah Jarrett and Sierra Jarrett, and three great-grandchildren; Taylor, Lucy and Silas Goins. She is survived by a brother Kenneth Leonard of Lexington.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to her caregivers Sheila Stone, Kennedy Berry, and Dorie Beck for their love and compassion for Marie.
