Marie Thomason Whittemore, age 82 of Lexington died Monday at her home after six years of declining health.
A Memorial service will be held at 4:00 pm Friday in DAVIDSON FUNERAL HOME CHAPEL with Rev. Gary Gibson officiating. Burial will follow in Lexington City Cemetery.
Mrs. Whittemore was born August 9, 1925 in Davidson county to Jesse James Thomason and Carlie Harrison Thomason. A retired bookkeeper for Sheets Memorial School, she was a member of Open Door Baptist Church. She was very active in various missions. Preceding her in death was her husband, Raymond George Whittemore in 1981, brothers, Alex Thomason, Foy Thomason, Leonard Thomason, Lester Thomason and a sister, Inez Curtis.
Surviving are a son, Gary Whittemore and wife, Roberta of New York, two daughters, Marsha Godfrey and husband, James of Winston-Salem, Trena Palmer and husband, Emery of Charlotte, four grandchildren, Conan Godfrey, Evan Godfrey, David Godfrey, Nora Godfrey, three sisters, Virginia Whitmire of South Carolina, Peggy Brooks of High Point and Sara English of Minnesota; two brothers, Lindsay Thomason and Clyde Thomason, both of Lexington.
The family will receive friends and family from 2:00 to 4:00 pm Friday prior to the service.
