Marilyn (Mama Weavil) King Weavil, age 74, of Lexington passed away at her residence Wednesday, February 12, 2014, with family by her side.
A funeral service will be held 2:00 pm Monday, February 17, 2014 at Oak Forest United Methodist Church with Rev. Darren Alexander and Rev. Dwight Cartner officiating. Burial will follow in the Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
Marilyn was born March 28, 1939 in Shreveport, Louisiana to Ernest Brian King and Louise Ellis King. Marilyn was member of First Baptist Church of Welcome and retired as a substitute teacher from the Davidson County Schools after 30 years. She was known as “Mama Weavil”. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Roscoe Evans Weavil, Jr; daughters, Debbie and Pamela Smith and a grandchild, Joshua Walters.
Surviving are her sons; Todd Weavil (Angie) of Midway, Mark Weavil (Connie) of Lexington and Jon Weavil (Shebria) of Lexington, daughters; Wendy Weavil Walters (Brad) of Welcome and Kim Weavil and Fiance’ Paul Hairston, sister; Linda Elliott of Grand Prairie, TX, grandchildren; Christopher Lloyd, Heather Lloyd, Ryan Weavil, Jacob Duncan, Kaitlin Weavil, Jacob Walters, Nicholas Walters, Brooklyn Weavil, Tristan Nunez, Tyler Hairston, Jaylen Weavil, Nathan Walters, Brayden Weavil, Braylen Weavil.
